Rescuers were working quickly on Monday (December 16) to reach survivors after Cyclone Chido hit Mayotte. The French overseas territory has faced many problems even before the cyclone. It is significantly poorer than the rest of France and a major destination for undocumented immigrants from nearby Comoros.
